UGSRC GENERAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS: ASPIRANTS ARE TO HAVE THEIR CGPA CHECKED BY THE OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

The Chairman of the University of Ghana Student Representative Council Electoral Commission, DANIEL KWASI DZREKEY, has corroborated to McBest Online that the names of all aspirants who filed nominations to contest as the Speaker/Chairman in the upcoming SRC General Assembly election have been submitted to the Office Dean of Student Affairs for the confirmation of aspirants CGPA to guarantee that those who filed nominations meet the minimum 3.0 CGPA which qualifies a student to contest in any SRC election.


Chapter six(6) article thirty(30) clause one(1 b) of the UGSRC constitution conditions aspirants to attain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 at the time of filing their nomination to be eligible to contest in an SRC election.

The Electoral Commissioner gave further clarity to the subject matter in an interview with McBest Online. The Commissioner said, "The Commission has made progress with the 2022/2023 SRC General Assembly Elections. Details of aspirants who filed nominations have been submitted to the appropriate office for the confirmation of their CGPA. As we await feedback on the aspirant's CGPA, we want to assure the student body that measures have been put in place to guarantee a peaceful and transparent election. The Commission will continue to keep stakeholders updated on new developments as and when appreciate," 


This news comes after the UGSRC Electoral Commission opened nominations on the 19th to 21st of January 2023 for the position of Chairman/Speaker of the SRC General Assembly. Information reaching McBest Online is that about five(5) students submitted their nomination forms before the stipulated deadline.
