Taxi operators have reduced transport fares by 20% after the Boakye-Lincoln-led UGSRC administration met with the leadership of the Taxi union.

This reduction comes after students lamented that the Taxi-transport operators are profiteering even though there has been a reduction in fuel prices and a downward adjustment of transport fares at the national level.

According to the publication,  the reduction in transport fares to GH¢8.00 was settled following a meeting between the SRC Executives and the leadership of the Taxi Union. The old Taxi fare on campus was GH¢10.00.

"Office of the Public Relations briefs: The SRC engaged the taxi union on campus and agreed on a new taxi fare of GHC 8.00 for trips on campus. This new taxi rate has taken effect already and as such students are informed about its compliance. Students are encouraged to maintain a cordial relationship with the taxi drivers on campus as well."

Drivers and commuters have thereupon been advised to ensure a smooth and collaborative implementation of the reduction announced by the SRC.

Students have praised the SRC Executives for their relentless commitment to ensuring affordable traveling arrangements for students on campus as they believe this will go a long way to benefit members of the University community at large.
